There is some quite interesting phenomenon in the Torrent Tracker community. For example a particular Torrent seeder - a person providing intial data input to start up a torrent file - known as AXXO in the community, has come to quite considerable fame.
Lucky for AXXO he /she or even the organisation it stands for has not been exposed so far or AXXO would probably be in for some serious trouble. Axxo has been known to seed hundreds of high quality but invariably illegal files of the latest movies and TV series episodes. The Torrent community actively searched for and found the axxo files making them ever stronger torrents as more peers joined the bittorrent community. Axxo became the backbone of multiple torrent communities.
As it is in the torrent world there is a war between those downloaders choosing to download illegal materials using Bittorrents and the movie industry which has been increasingly active online (rather than just with legal prosecutions). Axxo being so famous was started being used to launch a great number of fake torrents.
Usually these fake torrents will be a file the size of the expected download but either contain nothing or something irrelevant if not malicious in nature. So watch out for those fake torrents and even when downloading legally as you should, always scan and virus check a completed Torrent download before using it.
